TYPE 6 REDUNDANCY FLEUR-DE-LIS (COMBINED VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL) TUMMY TUCK
These are abdomens that have extensive redundancy in the lower abdomen as described in Type 5, but they also have extensive redundancy in the upper abdomen. Such that a conventional extended tummy tuck will not adequately address the upper abdominal redundancy and they will continue to have this problem. Therefore a vertical component needs to be added to their procedure. Thus the ideal treatment for such abdomens is a COMBINED VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL RESECTION of the abdominal skin and fat, which in surgical terminology is called FLEUR-DE-LIS TUMMY TUCK, along with appropriate amounts of LIPOSUCTION. The need for this type of abdominoplasty is not that frequent, and it is usually necessary in some patients after MWL (Massive Weight Loss), secondary to Bariatric Surgery. Below is an example of this type of Abdominoplasty carried out in a lady who had lost 70 lbs after a gastric sleeve procedure.
