Male
Breast Reduction
(Mastectomy
for Gynecomastia)
Males often
develop prominence of their breasts at puberty,
which usually subsides spontaneously by
the end of their teen years. However, occasionally
this problem persists, resulting in a condition
known as "Gynecomastia", which
means the presence of prominent female type
breasts in a male. The problem can also
be caused by certain substances or medications.
The
procedure for removal of this excess breast
tissue can either be done through suction
assisted liposculpture (liposuction), or
surgically through a small incision made
around the lower half of the areola, or
a combination of both, depending on the
consistency of the breast,
The
results are often dramatic and gratifying,
and significantly enhance the male patient's
self-esteem. |
